Due to restrictions currently in place, Chowderfest 2020 has morphed into a whole month of activities, chowder purchasing, merchant sales, online Chowderwear store, and a brand new virtual run component.  The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce who is the organizer of the festivities recognizes that this is an opportunity to keep the community safe and keep this popular 32-year event on the 2020 calendar will present the inaugural Chowder Run Walk Bike Challenge as part of the ChowdeRestaurant & Merchant Month.

The run will be at the challenger’s own pace, as they set their own course. Registered participants can log in and track their time and distance completing in a day or within the month. The Virtual Chowder Run Challenge will have a real-time leader board, They will have access to a downloadable competitor bib and can choose to take part in a 5 or 10 Mile Walk/Run, a 10 or  20 Mile Bike Challenge. All races have a $25 entry fee with a $1.25 sign up fee. This cost includes real-time race stats, official Chowder Run Challenge 2020 medal, Finisher Certificate, exclusive runner FB Group, and participant runner bib. The medal will be sent upon completion and will be the first edition to be worn to next year’s fest with pride. Individuals, families, or teams of challengers can make this part of their fall schedule, registrations are online now with the challenge is taking place September 5 through October 4. 2020 Restaurants & Merchants

Join the hundreds of voters who have already registered for a month long hybrid event to eat and shop small business in the Long Beach Island Region. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce is presenting their 32 annual Chowderfest differently this year to comply with COVID19 restrictions and safety regulations. Tasters can now purchase merchandise online, complete in the inaugural Virtual Chowder Walk Run and Bike challenge and of course register to vote. There is no cost to become a VIP this year where an email address will get you access to the ballot, digital mapping and Chowderfest Playlist.

 

Tasters are representing near and far from Philadelphia, Staten Island, and across New Jersey to include Passaic, Somerset, Bergen, Union and Ocean Counties. Pennsylvania counties also include Bucks, Delaware and Montgomery.

ChowdeRestaurant & Merchany Month 2020

Tasters will visit restaurants to dine outdoors or take out to create a “Chowderfest at Your House” event with online voting.

 

When: September 5th – October 4th – Voting ends 3:00 p.m. on 10/4

 

Where: The 32nd Chowderfest is an event where Chowder Tasters visit the participating restaurants to taste chowder and shop local retailers. There is no on-site festival this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Ticketing: The 32nd Chowderfest WILL NOT require a ticket purchase to participate in the month-long event.

 

Voting: Voting begins Labor Day Weekend. One vote per email. Voting ends 3:00 p.m. on 10/4. There will only be one Grand Champion this year. NOTE: Voting is per email and device. Repeat votes will not be accepted.
